Dammit will... you made me try Alchemy and i'm in love. Here is one of my tests.
I saw David's awesome thread and fell in love with this one. thought I'd try my hand at rendering it...

any critique would be appreciated, though I doubt I'll be changing anything too drastic at this point. I just want this thing done :P

Gnarf - I really really like that style. almost reminds me of... scrapbooking? ...on crack? :P
update:
thanks dorsa! I doubt I'll finish that one though :)
another study: mirror-referenced speed-paint 1 hr. It was sunset and the light kept changing on me. It was a bit of fun experimenting with square brushes for this one
hahaha, nice cow. I think I have a few of those old assignments laying around somewhere. It'd be cool to see more like this.
here is a referenced speed-paint I did today. about 2 hours. I was mainly focussed on reproducing the lighting, and not as much the actual facial structures.

and here is the reference
you did pretty dang good for just the mspaint palette, xion. :)
another sketch for the night:

tried giving it a bit of a fantasy-coloring. the more I work on this, the more I'm not liking it.
im9today, I'm really liking those sketches. That platformer rocks

I'm not exactly satisfied with its proportions, but meh. I'll make a new thread for this if I decide to continue
EDIT: slight tweaks... and again... added reflected light
Better?

thanks for the crits guys, they really helped. In the process of this, I ended up losing my high-res version, so I doubt I'll continue much further. It was mainly a speed sketch.
ForgottenFigure: You were definitely right about the lats. I hope its more accurate now.
Quark: Yeah, I'm Indigo. I toned down the crotch-pod... I hope enough.
Josh: Thanks man :)
a quick sketch for the night. ForgottenFigure's stuff made me want to practice some anatomy. No references where used, however I probably should have.
Someone said it kinda looked like a frog. I somewhat agree. It was a refreshing dive into CG work which I've been neglecting. I wanted to give it a natural anatomic flow (to some extent) with various animals as inspiration. More progress to follow

Current Status:

I'm intending to keep this drawing very loose, with lots of straight lines/angles - not like my usual stuff. And yeah, the hands are a bit wack right now. I'll fix it.
