I don't know what the assignment was but I'd like to see you work from photographs that YOU take. ( if you did take that you're crazy : D) The text is a bit dark and almost seems more like an oddly placed signature. As for the painting- the rays are very well done and the composition is nice. The texture in the bottom left is flattening, and the tree doesn't quite work for me.
