Ive felt somewhat intimidated to post art after seeing the things some of you post. I thought I would start a thread anyway to post things im doing for school and for fun. Im still trying to develope a style so criticism and critique is really appreciated.

Testing on scratch board. I have a bigger sheet that Im going to do a piece on soon..

To paraphrase a longer post that I couldn't post on my desktop:

I like the first one in a folk-art kind of way. Second one is solid. Third is fantastic, only crit I have is that the top of the head, slightly below right between the ears, seems to drop off and make that part of the head seem very flat whereas it seems to me that there should be a slope shown down to the eyebrow area given the lighting conditions.

Yeah that's all, sorry for the hurried post. Also, canuck huh?, what province are you in?

Your content is really interesting and entices the viewer, especially in the first one. It's got great emotion. You have a great sense of design.

The newest two also, really awkward and approachable (thats a good thing ... in my opinion, at least.

I think you know that you need to hit the anatomy books more often, but other than that I like what I see!

Constructive Anatomy and The Human Machine (2 seperate books) by George Bridgeman. In fact I think you can find some of his books online.

Go from bones -> muscles -> skin. It's like learning how to draw cloth. Knowing the underlying structure helps create the form. Proportion is important. Perhaps try to create your own proportion guides. Or if you do life drawing always be measuring distances in your mind as you draw.

nice man, i can see that as a poetry collection or something.

i think on the ram you really start to lose volume in the legs. i know you can't go back on this one, but try doing some gradations with the cross hatching.

btw, i freakin' love this one

I dig the first one man; but they're all pretty cool.

I'd say keep studying form and volume, and as always, anatomy.

    Good stuff! ;)

I got to start posting more stuff to get more criticisms.. You guys are great. Heres some new stuff. Mostly assignments for school.

Detailed drawing of my old jeans, creative mark making and texture was the goal for this one.

    Self portrait using a mirror

Still life of a lamp and sewing machine.. not a big fan of this one

    165 tiny self portraits

The assignment was about ecology and the human experience and this is what i came up with, the squirrel bed, haha

This is part of scratch board im working on at the moment about fear, the darkness, and childrens imaginations of what lurks in the dark.

Let my know what you folks think.
