..or at least I'll try not to lurk anymore. Blick had his collaborative sketchbook idea, and I signed up for it because I know him. I realized that it must have been weird for everyone else that doesn't know me or my art though. So here I am.
These pieces are part of my "concentration" for my AP Art portfolio. I'm working on doing 12 pieces that have to do with body language. So here are the first few in order of creation.

Here's the next one that I'm working on:

Sorry for the poor quality pictures. I got a new laptop and I can't find the drivers for my scanner.

Hello there welcome to punaji :] No reason to lurk. We don't bite, except for possibly in an extremely sexual manner..

You picked a good idea for your concentration. I like how you never show the full faces of the models, it's like an interesting take on portraiture.
I can see these are done in marker- its a very tricky medium and I advise you to possible use a different one.
A concentration is based on one idea, but multiple mediums are fine, and encouraged. Maybe try some with graphite and paint. I say this because are pretty flat. I can tell that you have shaded, but it doesn't help to push and pull form within your images. You know the concept but I think the medium is hindering you. I can't tell how big these are, but I know its a good thing to work larger, but deadlines will creep up. I know because I have a 2D AND a 3D portfolio to complete -_- so if you feel you can make smaller pieces successfully it will free up some of your time so that you can experiment and improve- which is the goal of these portfolios. I think my favorite is the fourth one. The composition is nice and the subject really seems to be in space unlike some others. There is also something special about the second one that im attracted too.

Keep it up, and I hope this critique was no rougher than a bite :]

fofig is defintiely on point with the idea of the markers limiting you, and you trying to "push and pull" from within your image, ie, setting down a tone and then working it in two directions towards shadows or highlights

also youre limited because markers come in set pallettes and set colors, your pictures turned out better colored and have a better scheme than a lot of things created under a predefined pallette, but i think this is hurting your overall progress, you dont have the challenge of creating your own tones and colors and accents and palletes, and this is one of the MAJOR aspects that will push you to the next level

i like the concepts and the choice of images, but I woudln't encourage doing a bunch of the same things, i wouldnt even encourage doing most of someones stuff on one single style

i think the main thing that all these lacks is depth in darkness, it sorta works and gives a pop art sorta feel for most, but it hurts a little bit in some areas - the picture with the two people sitting on the curb, i think this is the one that is lacking most out of the lot; theres a lot of unused area washed with the same tones of grey. be weary about using gray with no color/saturation in it, for the most part it ends up coming out bland and sorta amatuerish, experiment with adding subtle blues or purples or even reds when using selecting a grey tone, this is the type of effect that will add a lot more depth and youll find its used a lot by people on here pretty well

i like the pic with the two little girls the most, mostly because of the patterns and the thin black outline - i think your style is cool but you need to develop it more and push it in differnt directions, ie. interesting use of patterns or outlines, it really distinguishes it from the others.

keep it up post more stay productive!

I think your choice of medium can help convey the emotion you're conveying in the piece, with a quiet, or timid body language, you could amplify that using graphite, while vibrant, exciting acrylics could highten another mood. I like what I see though, keep it up.

Sorry, it's been a while since I've checked this. :/
Thanks for the critiques! They've been especially useful. I'm retiring the prismacolor markers for now and looking into some other mediums. I'll keep posting my concentration pieces as I finish them, but I'm going to try and scan some pages from my moleskine. It'll give you a better idea of my normal style, and hopefully it will be make me use it more!
    Thank you again!
