Damn it, Zach. I wish I would have said something about these a long time ago. They deserve some attention.
I might be offering opinion counterproductive to what you're trying to do, but I find the more highly refined renderings a lot more pleasing to look at. Of note, the kids and the pink toned woman's body. The flesh in these is just sublime. It seems so supple, so surrealistically perfect.
As for the more loosely rendered, I like a lot of the aspects of them. Your colors (as always) are odd and great. The second image's in particular are lovely. I'm also a sucker for the gray/salmon/teal of the man's silhouette. I also think those two are the most successful of the rougher batch.
They still have a strongly discernible subject matter. The others seems to move more of the focus toward the technique rather than the object. Which is fine, but I think you want to go to one extreme or the other. Have the subject be the star or the brush strokes or force them to work more harmoniously together (as they do in the gray man's image). As they are, competing with one another for attention, lessens either's impact.
Also, you gotta get rid of those damn timestamps in the future.
