Some quick doodle i decided to play with in illustrator trying to get abit better with picking colours.

I used a cannon eos 400d for the photo Miguel. Very Meatyard inpsired.

To be brutally honest, that last one is hella ugly. The dashed line outside is just totally jarring and does not fit at all. The lime green in general is pretty harsh too, and just tends to clash. I really love all the others though, the pictures have a lot of character. Keep it coming.

I really like the last one, but i have to agree with Quark, the dashed outline doesnt work for me.

cheers for the comments guys its goood. @quark/miguel yeah i was abit 50/50 about the dashed outline but i was experimenting so i went with it.
@Felipe nah the heads where found by my dads friend when the local opera house ting was clearing stuff out, so he painted them up again and gave them to my dad. The photo was very inspired by Ralph Eugene Meatyard http://www.masters-of-photography.com/M/meatyard/meatyard_romance_full.html kinda to much like him but it was done the morning before the project had to be handed in ^_^.

You've got some really nice style going in these, but I think you might want to invest in some better mediums. Right now, what could be really stylish pieces are cheapened by the fact that they're done in what looks like pink hi-liter on a dayplanner.

If these were done up with a little more finesse and some really nice, smooth clean lines, these would be so much more badass.

    Cheers pal!

i don't know, i love the shoddiness of the mediums you use. reminds me of something you'd see in a zine. keep posting these man. i dig 'em

i liek that letterhead alot! im lovin the type at the top and the overall balance up there i think its great. but i'm not sure about the triangles that trickle down the sides, i initially think something thinner and more organized might be better in its place,

im seeing like some aztec like jagged basket pattern or something - the colors and the top portion screams american southwest style to me, but the triangles on the side dont have that feeling and look too much like party invitations maybe

im curious: did you mirror it after doing one side? (besides text)

yeah it is mirrored, I might try and rethink the triangles border thingy mo bob but at the moment i don't really have any ideas >_<.

This is just from playing around in illustrator while i was bored last night.

I would say incorporate other coloured lines to dissect the monotony. Something along the lines of the yellow stuff in the corner, but... more of it, and possibly in a colour that plays of the teal-y colour of the triangles. It looks really flat right now too, despite all the gradients. They all seem to be cancelling each other out.

    it's like you modernized cubism..

I think this could work with fractal.. not just random triangle..

I think this would fit perfectly as the background in a poster or some other type heavy work. I don't mean that as a back-handed compliment, but the fact that the design doesn't have a serious amount of depth or noise makes me believe it would lend itself well to being part of a larger design. I enjoy how it looks, but don't think it stands on its own at the moment.
