using zbrush to further render that 3d guy on page one, to match that image on page one too. mostly messing around with brush settings, so it's just a work in progress, i may start over since this is the first time i've ever used zbrush too

All of this stuff is fantastic. I love the way you play with anatomy and facial structure, it's so comical and goofy. You draw pictures that I really enjoy looking at. I'm also going to say that stepping outside of your comfort zone is never a bad idea, not because I don't like this stuff, but more because I want to look at more pretty things.

Id like to see you work with a brush and ink. Really maximize the bouncy line quality of these amazing characters you have.

thanks for the kind words guys

i don't know if i mentioned this, but i started a website a while back that lists a ton of artist's sites i've come across on the internet. i compiled an update today. if you've posted your site here, it's likely on there, but i can't be too sure. i know david, scott, dan, and josh are on there. take a LOOK

animation test (about 5.4 MB): the frame that holds is just a placeholder for extra frames. the whole thing is pretty rough, but i thought i'd show

if it doesn't load well, click here

excuse the bad framing, i had to hold a camera in place and line it up in the computer, my cheapest best bet.

Sweet, man! I love the head movement. Hair is bouncy, shape is...fluidy. I kind of don't like how the elbow bends at the sleeve though. I think it may've looked cooler with a more rubbery far arm.
That's my only gripe though, otherwise it's all most delightfully eyexcellent.

thanks man, i'll get on that. i see what you mean now. i was going for and offset in breaking the joints, but went a little overboard.

the next shot will be this

if all goes according my storyboard, i should have a 1-2 minute animation done in a few weeks. i just need a better method of shooting.

by the way, xion, i know you like to animate and your stuff comes out great. i'm just telling you now, rather than paying thousands for an art school, you should look into buying a light tracer, a peg bar (i use the acme peg bar), and some animation bond. it all comes out to a really decent price if you think about it. don't have to get them from the links, i just looked them up real quick. there's cheaper, i'm sure.

I've got a light box (ancient thing, from when my mom was in art school) but the pegs, I haven't. More a matter of motivation keeping me from doing stuff, though. Lame excuse, I know, but true. Sad but as far as arting stuff my driving force usually is school, or other necessity.

But anyway, I'm looking forward to the finished animation muchly. That is a rodent of unusual size?

nah, it's a wolf. it'll make sense when i'm done. i feel the same way about motivation, personal projects are rare for me. i got ideas, but i can't get the motivation to do them unless someone asks me for a deadline. gotta break the habit, i'd love to see you make a full fledged animation. get flash if you have to. watch enough animation (the old stuff i recommend) and it starts to make more and more sense. look up glen keane, one of my favorites. also, i highly, highly, highly recommend the animator's survival kit by richard williams (animated roger rabbit, in case you didn't know.)

It looks like a rodent because it has round ears, wolves have pointed ears.

I look at this thread a lot without commenting, Im sorry, usually I just scroll through and appreciate it all quietly. Dont stop.
